They use farming practices that regenerate the land, using permaculture and organic agriculture as a guiding design principle. The farm runs courses educating people to work the land sustainably, giving them the opportunity to 'learn on the job'. They are piloting innovative approaches to land share, with The Willowbank, Market Garden, and Bees for Development.

WORK DESCRIPTION

Juanfran Lopez has worked at Ragmans farm during 7 years. He arrived in 2012 as volunteer, after a while he was employed as main land worker. His job during the beginning was to take care of the land, mainly the orchards and apple juice production.

After two years working at the farm his role changed the direction and developing a research and a training program, mainly focused on the production and application of biofertiliser and mineral broths at the farm; as well as studying and then measure through trials, about the effectiveness of these biological techniques on system biology and mineral balance on plant-soil health and growth.

LIVING AGRICULTURE

Currently he teaches his own courses at the farm about biofertilisers, microbiology and crop nutrition once a year. Also, he has an on-going relation with the farm as part of the team and as adviser about biofertilisers and crop nutrition.
